Recently we at Mu design started our operations at the 2000 square feet studio nestled
in the hills of Baner, Pune. The whole process of migration from a home office base to a
dedicated state of the art studio sparked a discussion amongst us as to what corroborated a
good workspace.
The design that follows is an exemplary understanding of a design studio in the modern
age where space is a luxury. There are a few key features that define our work on a broad
scale and the studio per se is a culmination of all these key features.
QUESTION STEREOTYPE:
As designers we tend to question stereotypes all along , a good design is an out come of
deliberation and permutations and combinations. These combinations are often about
questioning stereotypes and why certain things have to be a certain way. For the studio we try
and set out the traditional spaces to open up to take the outside in. The staff area and the
director cabins (that also combine as conferences) are completely visible from the inside out
and the outside in.
COGNITIVE EXPERIENCE:
The cognitive experience is a psychological understanding of a physical manifestation
or formation. The way the studio is laid out also beholds the game that we play on the mind
of making space seem much larger than it physically seems. The play of light and shadows
with the indoor and outdoor lighting creates the focus for a new comer while it defocuses in
the background spaces that are meant for the core team for the day to day use. |

Designis inherently optimistic. Each act of designhas the fundamental aim to improve, to make something easier or more satisfying, appealing, or effective. ... Humanitarian design, then, is about making things better for humanity. We take every inch of a designed space and
make sure that it is responsible and does not in anyway as far as possible in the modern world, damage a human interaction with the space. The employees that spend over 8 hrs a day at times should be in a well conditioned environment where their well being is taken care. |
